This week I am featuring a set of mugs. I have 4 in the set, three are pictured here. These mugs are glazed with a soft white shino glaze on the inside and a 1/2 dip in celedon on the outside over flashing slip. The glazes mix creates subtle color variations which are further enhanced by fly ash from the firing. These make great "everyday" mugs (this is the style I use most in my own home). Like all of my wood-fired pots, they are microwave and dishwasher safe.
This cup, and a few others, are now available in my online store. This week's cup is a lovely little Yunomi (small, everyday tea cup). This is a new form for me, and I am sure to enjoy exploring it for many years to come. This one has pretty much everything I am looking for in pot: a slight wobble in the form, comfortable in the hand, and a beautiful surface with lots of subtle color variations and textures. In the store you can mouse over the image to get better details- check it out!
