Pair of small cups (guinomi)
These small wheel thrown cups are great for tea or spirits. The glaze is a satin-like honey-amber on a rich dark-brown clay. I like to think of them as part mid-century modern, part wabi-sabi. The term "guinomi" comes from Japan, meaning "one gulp." Traditionally guinomi were used for rice wine but today they serve a variety of purposes. These cups are approximately 2 3/4 inches cubed, and comfortably hold 5 oz.
