June 10: Orange Mug
ORANGE! With this piece I started experimenting with using my glaze palette, allowing the red-orange glaze, which normally stays in the background, to take center stage. And it did not disappoint! The variety in the orange is related to the growth of sodium crystals and the way the flames moved through the kiln. (You can tell results like this really gets my inner "glaze geek" excited.)
Also this mug includes a highlight of my "buttercorn" glaze at the handle. I love how this glaze interacts with the orange. It also has a very buttery texture which invites touch. This is a combination I will definitely explore more in the future!
Holds approx. 12-14 oz.
