June 12: Pitcher with Metallic highlights
This is the kind of glaze surface that keeps me going back to the studio! I deliberately keep to a very limited glaze palette, but I choose glazes that are very sensitive to all sorts of variables: thickness of coat, number of firings, the kiss of the flame, even the time between glazing and firing. Every once in awhile all of the variables line up in such a way that a silver-metallic luster emerges from the iron-rich glazes. That happens here, deep inside the dark-brown that dominates the belly of this pitcher
It is easy for me to imagine using this pitcher to serve lemonade at a summer garden party, or as an accent piece in a favorite place. Holds approximately 2 quarts.
