Wood-Fired Pint+ Stein in Marble-ware clay 1
Marble-ware steins from the latest wood-firing. These went into the kiln with only a white shino-glaze on the inside. The outside marbling is made from wedging a couple of different color stoneware clays together. When they are thrown they spiral together creating a pattern that goes all the way through the pot- not just on the surface! The atmosphere inside the kiln did the rest of the glazing, turning the normally grey-colored stoneware a rich golden-brown. Unlike a lot of traditionally glazed pottery, these have a nice light sheen of glaze from the firing, and you can still feel the texture of the clay.
